Duty Parents And Other Ways To Get Involved:

The duty parent role is foundational at City Kids. Each duty parent brings a unique set of experiences to the classroom with which to assist the teachers. For the duty parent, it is an opportunity to learn more about City Kids, to observe and assist in the development of his/her child(ren), and to build a relationship with his/her classmates at an early age. For the child, it is a point of pride, and a special time spent with the parent. Duty parents have found the experience to be an invaluable way to start the education of their children. Duty parents receive a fee rebate.

Other ways to get involved for parents of the Playgroup and Preschool

For those who are new, or those who are wanting to become more involved, we need and welcome you! Here are some of the ways you can help...

Help with the library…

Our library needs many people to keep in running. There are many jobs, from covering, books, to purchasing new titles, to coordinating our Birthday donation program. Our Librarian is also a volunteer position and an excellent way to be involved with the school. If you would like to help out with the library, please contact the Board parent representative.

Be a Board Member…

The City Kids HKPPA Preschool Board is the governing body for both the Preschool and Playgroup. The Board works to ensure the philosophy and goals of the school are achieved. Board members are elected at the AGM in June. The Board meets monthly. Both the City Kids Preschool and the HKPPA Playgroup has representatives on the Board. All parents of Preschool and/or HKPPA Playgroup children are eligible to serve on the Board. If interested please let the Chair know.

Other ways to get involved with the Preschool

City Kids Preschool invites all parents to look at the options below and to sign up for or inquire further about anything of interest. In addition to the opportunities below there are single item events throughout the year; parties, field trips, the school fair, and worker bee days to name a few. Sign ups for those activities will be posted as they arise. And of course, there is no rush to get involved right away, for new and returning families the priority is to settle into the school year; to get to know the teachers and the community, learn the routine, and make sure children are secure and happy in their school environment.
