- Our Facilities
We are proud and thankful to call 12 Borrett Road our home. This beautiful historic building once housed a hospital, then Island School, and now has five schools and/or non-profit programmes.
Borrett Road is linked to Bowen Road and Kennedy Road, so we are in the heart of the leafy mid-levels. Many of our families walk to school along the lovely and quiet Bowen Road. The Preschool holds lots of events at the Bowen Road Park, just a five minute walk from school.
Best of all, we have plenty of space and a long-term lease, so we don’t worry about having to move anywhere else.
- Our space
Our classrooms are large, airy and have plenty of light. There are wooden floors throughout, with colourful area rugs for our circle times, or for children to sit on the floor and play. Because we are the top floor of the building, the ceilings are high and there are lots of beautiful windows.
The Playgroup has two main rooms, and the library. The adjoining Preschool has three rooms. Each school has their own toilets with changing areas. There is a big kitchen for snack preparation, cooking projects, and most importantly a place for the grown-ups to gather and make a cup of tea.
- The Balcony
One of the greatest features of our space is our back balcony, which is ten feet wide and the entire length of our space. This is so big and such an important part of our programmes that it works as an extra classroom. This is where PPA Playgroup has their painting, messy water and sand play, climbing frame with slide, and also the ride-on toys. City Kids Preschool uses their balcony for tricycles, scooters, ride-on toys, ball throwing, and sand play. We use the balcony rain or shine year-round.
- Our outdoor play areas
We have access to a newly refurbished playground with a large climbing frame that affords all sorts of jumping, climbing and running around. Adjoining this playground is a basketball court that we use for large group activities, or the many informal running games our children love.
- Our library
While the Preschool has always had a book lending programme, this year we’ve decided to create a dedicated library room to be enjoyed by both the Preschool and the PPA Playgroup. The library consists of custom-designed shelves to hold our growing collection of English children’s literature and comfortable cushions, and sofas to curl up and read books.
