Principles:

The four main principles of the HKPPA Play-based Curriculum are:

  • A Unique child- Recognises that every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
  • Positive relationships- describes how children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or key people in their lives.
  • Enabling Environments- environment pays a key role in supporting and extending children’s learning.
  • Learning and Developing- recognizes that children learn and develop at different rates and all areas of learning and development are equally important and interconnected.

Note: These are based on the UK Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and the New Zealand Te Wahriki early years curriculum.
