Bad weather

Bad Weather Procedure

City Kids follows advice from the Education Bureau regarding the suspension of classes during inclement weather. You are advised to check the current situation before leaving home by visiting the Education Bureau website  as well as the Hong Kong Observatory website .

As a general guideline only, the following arrangements apply:

Rainstorm Warnings
Amber:  School open and running as normal
Red or Black:   Before school, classes will be cancelled. If hoisted during school hours, sessions will continue until the end. Parents can pick up their children early if they wish to do so. Bus will be suspended.

Tropical Cyclones/Typhoons
Signal No. 1:  School open and running as normal
Signal No. 3 & 8:  School will be closed. Parents of afternoon sessions should check the Education Bureau website at 11:30am to check if afternoon classes will be suspended. If No. 3 or higher is hoisted during school hours, children need to be collected and taken home as soon as possible. Buses will be suspended.

AIR POLLUTION INDEX (API)
Children spend a large proportion of their time at City Kids outside. If your child suffers from any respiratory condition, you may wish to consider keeping them at home when the API at general stations is “very high” or “extreme”. Please note our zoning is Central/Western. For current API levels, please visit the Environmental Protection Department website.

Health and Hygiene

To minimise the spread of infectious illnesses amongst children, we ask that all children and adults attending the school pay attention to personal hygiene.  Children who have a fever or show any signs of illness should not attend school.  Please contact us if your child contracts an infectious illness so we can monitor the situation and take any appropriate action if necessary.

For more information on infectious illness please visit the Centre for Health Protection website.
